Prototype
The design of a scale
Holes are engraved on each side as a container to store the weights
Approximately 12 scales is mounted on the wall. The public can add weights to shape the scales.
After making the prototype, I think the scale itself looks like a brick when we have certain spacing between them. Comparing adding a acrylic box on it, keep it simple like this work more on the visual effect.
Instead of placing them tightly, I prefer to left some spaces between each scales.
Comparing two lines, I would like to make it into several lines that looks like a wall than a simple linear visual effect. It gives a stronger sense that the brick, the scales, should be in balance to build a wall for the housing.
Instead of making every brick, maybe left some space empty can interpret some message.
Dimension of the scale
The scale is in 30cm X 10cm X 7cm. It is divided in two part, the rectangular block with container and the triangular stand.
The cuboid is in 30cm X 10cm X 5cm. It has 3 rectangular holes. Two on top work as a container and one at the bottom create space for the stand the wave.
The distance between the margin of the cuboid and the container is 2cm, no matter from the side or the bottom.
Dimension of the container
(two holes on top of the cuboid)
The container is in 8cm X 6cm X 3cm
Dimension of the triangular stand
The bottom is a rectangle in 8cm X 8cm, and the height is 6cm tall. While the hole at the bottom of the cuboid hold the stand, the dimension id in 8cm X 8cm as well. The heigh of it is 4 cm. So, the extra distance we can see the stand is in 2 cm tall.
